Stefan Maguran - Painting

A white mass of paint on a square surface.

You could call it piece of rubbish and, unless you lived in the 21st century, after being through the sixties and the nineties, you could be right.

But because you lived through all that, and witnessed on one hand the freedom and on the other the harsh reality of living in a society with rules, what else could you have painted, when anything and everything could have been ridiculed, misjudged or misinterpreted?

Auction of Stefan's Works

On the 8th of June 2008 two people have become richer. They have spent a few dollars to benefit the victims of disasters in China and Burma at a concert organised by the Red Cross at the Adelaide Town Hall and won, each, a painting by Stefan Maguran. They most likely don't realise how rich they have become, and it is up to them now. They could destroy their new found fortune, they could make someone rich by on-selling at a ridiculous price just to make room for a print on their walls, or, they could cherish their treasure. It's up to them. The truth is it is only so often in a lifetime that people are being touched by shear luck by being at the right time in the right place, making the right decision and having just a bit of luck. In a few years from now, owning Stefan Maguran will be out of reach for most of us...
